Oh, Nostradamus wrote the lines. Well, three of them. But they were not written the way the forgers presented them. Instead they were written in different ways, with prophecies that had different meanings.
The first two lines of the forgery came from this chilling quatrain that deals with an attack on a city in the United States:
And the last line of the forgery came from this quatrain that predicts an individual so evil he makes Adolf Hitler look like a saint. Please note how the forgers took from different parts of the quatrain to make the line.
But what about the third line? Try as I could, I could not find a single one of his predictions that had that set of words. The forgers simply wrote it to tie in the first two lines with the fourth line.
So take a look at what the forgers wrote and compare it to what Nostradamus actually wrote.
Why would these forgers do it? Why would they want to make such a claim? Were they foolish and simply thought they were channeling the true intent of the seer? Were they skeptics who wanted to try to bring the repute of Nostradamus down? That they got away with it is unquestioned, for even today there are sites that claim that this is a genuine prophecy of Nostradamus. But does Nostradamus need such claims to bolster his reputation? Or is his reputation cemented by numerous predictions too accurate to deny?
