The Seventh Century
Quatrains 41 - 44

Note: The first of the shortened decades of this century, this decade has only four quatrains

Quatrain 41

Les os des pieds & des mains enserrés,
Par bruit maison long temps inhabitée :
Seront par songes concavent déterrez,
Maison salubre & sans bruit habitée.

The bones of feet and hands fitted tightly round,
By noise home long time deserted:
By dreams the hollow dug out,
Healthy home and quietly lived.

Ambiguous

I have to leave this one to the ingenuity of the reader.

Quatrain 42

Quant Innocent tiendra le lieu de Pierre,
Le Nirazam Cicilien (ce verra
En grands honneurs) mais apres ill cherra,
Dans le bourbier d’un civille guerre.

When Innocent will hold Peter’s place,
The Sicilian Nirazem (sees himself
In great honors) but after will fall,
In the quagmire of a civil war.

Ambiguous, Though Most Likely Fulfilled

There have been five Innocents on St. Peter’s throne since Nostradamus published the quatrains. Innocent the IX in 1591, X in 1644-55, XI in 1676-1689, XII from 1691-1700 and XIII from 1721-1724. During this time, Sicily had many revolts. As I am unable to look into this with the depth it deserves, I am forced to refer this to the reader to figure out.

Quatrain 43

Lutece en Mars, Senateurs en credit,
Par une nuict Gaule fera troublee,
Du grand Crœsus l’Horoscope predit,
Par Saturnus, sa puissance exillee.

Lutece in Mars, Senators in credit,
By one night Gauls will make trouble,
Of the great Croesus the Horoscope predicts,
By Saturn the strong exiled.

Ambiguous

The Senators can refer to members of a Senate, a Parliament or any other legislative body – the key being that they are members of a legislative body. The Gauls are most likely French, though they can include northern Italians. Croesus is the legendary king of Sardis whose wealth was reputedly one of the greatest ever, he died by orders of Cyrus, Shaw of Persia, after Persia had conquered Lydia.

Quatrain 44

Note: This quatrain is the 42nd quatrain in the Du Rosne and Rigaud editions. It is the only post 41st quatrain of the 7th Century found in editions other than the Sève edition. Its authenticity is not in doubt.

Deux de poison saisez nouveau venus,
Dans la cuisine du grand prince verser :
Par le souillard tous deux au faict cogneuz,
Prins qui cuidoit de mort l’aisne vexer.

Two newly come have seized the poison
To pour in the kitchen of the great Prince:
By the scullion the two are caught
Taken, he that thought to vex the elder with death.

Attempted Murder of Henri IV

This talks about two people who try to poison their king or duke. They fail.

I could not find this in my researches. However, Theophilus de Garenciéres has a commentary where he claims it was fulfilled. In his own words:

“This came to pass in the time of Henri IV, who was poisoned at Melan, by two unknown men, who were discovered by the Conla Boy in the doing of it, and were both taken, the History is at large in Peter (something) the Hull Chrography, which I could not insert here for the satisfaction of the Reader, because I could not get the book, the reader may fascinate himself upon the plate.”

Without any reason to reject this commentary, I will accept Theophilus’ interpretation and declare this fulfilled.
